The City of Mount Vernon NY, Mayor Richard Thomas and Friends of Mount Vernon Arts Recreation & Youth Programs (FMVARYP) presents “Mount Vernon CityFest”

The city will explode with excitement for this free family event on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Rain date: Sunday, September 24, 2017, same time/same place.  The event will be held between East 1st Street and East 2nd Street along with South 4th Avenue – South 2nd Avenue.   


Mount Vernon CityFest is a free family-friendly outdoor event in the City of Mount Vernon. MVCF will platform a variety of music, art, culture, sports, family activities, health awareness and great food. Gifted entertainers and businesses from around Mount Vernon, Westchester County and the tri-state area, will have an opportunity to engage with a diverse audience and have a great time.

Mount Vernon CityFest brings the City of Mount Vernon blocks of fun-filled activities and excitement. Original art, panel discussions, demonstrations, stages of continuous live and celebrity entertainment, vendors, diverse food courts, health pavilion, sports activities, and a children’s lane are offered. The festival brings creative talent and the community together to generate an artistic backdrop for Mount Vernon. Several contests will be held such as the Fidget Spinner, Patty Eating, and MV Cypher.

MOUNT VERNON, NEW YORK (July 17, 2017) –The City of Mount Vernon NY, Mayor Richard Thomas and Friends of Mount Vernon Arts, Recreation & Youth Programs (FMVARYP) presents “Mount Vernon CityFest”.  The city will explode with excitement for this free family friendly event on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Rain date: Sunday, September 24, 2017, same time/same place. Mount Vernon CityFest brings the City of Mount Vernon blocks of fun-filled activities and excitement. Mayor Richard Thomas and Friends of Mount Vernon Arts, Recreation & Youth Programs are proud to work with some of Mount Vernon’s dedicated pillars of the community in planning CityFest. With demonstrations in community building through entertainment, music, art and public service, this strategic team is passionate to execute and work alongside The Department of Recreation’s movers and shakers Commissioner Darren M. Morton, Deputy Commissioner Sylvia Gadson, Tamarris Lewis – Event Coordinator & Vendors, and Sheryll Brownlee-Fox – Staff Partner & Promotions.

 

Serving as Marketing and Entertainment Chair is Mount Vernon native Jacene Thomas (Voice Personality on 107.5 WBLS “Roots NYC Live” Fridays from 10pm-12am, DJ and Host from Marley Marl’s Power 105.1 Future Flavas, Past Event Chair for American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Audio Technician and President of Multi Dimensional Media, Inc. – www.VisitMDM.com)

 

Ambassador of Caribbean Affairs is Minister Patrick Tyson (Stage Manager, MC, Host, Radio Personality on Future FM Radio)

 

Ambassador of Old School Hip Hop is Lefty D Wilkins (President of the 

Not for Profit old school rap group the MoneyMakinMob. They are notorious for giving back to the community, sharing peace, unity and old school love  #Mob4Life)

 

Ambassador of Hip Hop Affairs is Brittany “Ova Floh” Lanzano (Music Producer, Writer, MC, Stage Manager, Audio Technician and CEO of Urban Unity – The Entity)

 

Ambassador of Gospel is Mount Vernon native musician extraordinaire Rev. Damon L. Mack (Public servant, Musician, Song Writer)

 

The team is still building and we have more Ambassador roles to fill so if you are ready to represent your City in the genre of R&B and Latino music please send an email to MVCityFest@gmail.com - titled I Am The (Latino) Ambassador, and same for R&B.

 

Look out for the CityFest Booth around the city and at the Pop Up Parties every Saturday. The booth will serve as an information center to Recruit Volunteers, Register to Audition, Vendor Applications and other materials about the festival.
